Southpark

SouthPark is a neighborhood centered on the intersection of Sharon Road and Fairview Road, about six miles south of Charlotte Uptown. The neighborhood is named after the high-end SouthPark Mall, an upscale shopping center which opened in 1970. The mall was once part of a sprawling 3,000-acre farm owned by Cameron Morrison, the former Governor of North Carolina. The original property is now home to a 1.8 million square foot shopping venue, currently the largest shopping center in North Carolina.

In addition to the SouthPark Mall, the area is also one of the most vibrant business districts in the city, employing an approximate workforce of over 40,000. The area is home to headquarters and major divisional operations of several multinational companies such as Nucor, amWINS Group, National Gypsum, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, and Bank of America Mortgage, among many others.
